The Mark Pera campaign announced the addition of Julie Sweet as Deputy Campaign Manager today. Sweet, recently Midwest Deputy Director of People For the American Way (PFAW), managed their regional Election Protection and Illinois Democracy projects. Julie was also on the steering committee for Fair Illinois, one of llinois’ largest LGBT coalition groups that promote fairness for gay and lesbian families.
Julie Sweet plans to leverage her grassroots experience in the Pera Campaign,
“I have a lot of experience in grassroots organizing and that’s a big part of the foundation on which this campaign is built. Our goal is to bring new voters to the Democratic Party and disaffected Democrats back to the party. We have in Mark Pera a candidate who will make progressive-minded voters in the district excited about the Democratic Party again.”
I know some Democracy for America activists who are on board – Mark Pera is creating some excitement.
And who is Mark Pera? Read about Mark here. The short version is in the press release:
“Mark Pera is a longtime resident of Western Springs and President of the Lyons Township High School Board. He is running in the Feb. 5 Democratic Primary in the 3rd U.S. Congressional District against U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski.”

We need more people in our party of the likes of Dan Lipinski or his dad, Bill Lipinski. I lived in the Third Congressional District!
