Last Friday over 125 people attended Alderman Stephanie Kifowit’s official announcement that she is running for Mayor of Aurora. Under the banner “Leadership that Listens,” Stephanie talked about the importance of improving economic development, improving education, reducing crime, and reducing corruption among other issues. The bipartisan crowd included Democratic State Representative Lou Lang, East Aurora High School Alumni and former Republican State Senator Robert Mitchler, District 4 Democratic Kane County Board member Bonnie Kunkel, Republican Aurora Alderman-at-Large Richard Irvin, Democratic Yorkville Alderman Joe Plocher, Democratic Aurora Township Clerk Juan Thomas, Democratic Aurora Township Trustee Christina Campos, Aurora Township Democratic Chair Alex Arroyo, National Association of Letter Carriers Union Local 219 Steward Dan Hines, Grain Millers Local 316 Representative Martin Iberra, and Executive Director of the Latino Engagement Community Council Fernando Chapa, among other notables. Precinct committeemen from both parties attended.
