This originally was a post by a different name about Barack Obama’s Republican opponent in the presidential race. In that post I analyzed how that opponent said he had “suspended” his campaign, when in fact all evidence (which I documented) points to him doing the complete opposite with the exception of canceling and moving the debates with Barack Obama. Obama’s opponent’s campaign offices were still operating and working, his ads were still up, the candidate himself was still giving campaign interviews and his staff was still attacking Barack Obama in media outlets – in other words saying the campaign was “suspended” was a complete lie to gain media attention.
Rick Davis, Barack Obama’s Republican opponent’s campaign manager, has said this election is not about the issues – he’s right because that’s the race they’ve decided to run – and there’s a lesson for political commentators and strategists there. Then Ronald Reagan Campaign Manager James Baker famously congratulated a news outlet that ran a story slamming Reagan because the pictures in the story made him look “presidential” – there’s a lesson there too.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the only serious presidential and vice presidential candidates in this race. They’re the only ones that deserve the attention and time of the press and political commentators. Don’t be distracted – then the other side, the side that’s not interested in the issues and will say anything for attention, wins. The American people deserve better than Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s opponents – which is why Barack and Joe deserve your vote.
