I was and am proud to have supported Bill Foster for the Congressional 14th District seat in the special election earlier this year. Bill’s victory was a great victory for the residents of the 14th District, who have gained a hardworking, serious representative fighting for their interests in Congress. It’s nice to see that the Chicago Sun-Times agrees.
From the Bill Foster for Congress Campaign:
Today, the Chicago Sun-Times endorsed Bill Foster, stating ‘Congress needs more political leaders like Foster, who reach across the aisle, who hold fast to clear principles but strive for pragmatic solutions, who put the taxpayers’ interests above all else.’
The endorsement is a huge boost for our campaign because during the Special Election in March, the Sun-Times backed our opponent, Jim Oberweis.
But today, we were delighted to read the paper’s glowing endorsement of Bill because it captures so much of how Bill has tried to represent the 14th District while in Congress.
For example, “Foster hunkers down in his tiny Washington apartment during the week but flies home on weekends. There, he has held 20 “Congress On Your Corner” sessions, as he calls them, where he sets up a table at a local grocery store to answer questions and help constituents.”
Or, “We have watched Foster in action and taken a better measure. He knows his stuff, though he remains soft-spoken, and has been effective in Washington.”
We were all smiles by the time we read the closing line, “Our endorsement in the 14th Congressional District goes to the soft-spoken scientist who has done his homework.”
The Sun-Times believes Congress needs practically minded leaders like Bill who are committed to working for independent solutions. We agree, which is why we need your help to send Bill back to Washington. Please make a contribution of $750, $500, $250, $100, $50, or whatever you can afford today.
